Why I'm Running
I’m an educated millennial who, like millions of others, has been failed by a system that needs a change in the direction of community and sustainability. I am a lifelong resident of Albany who has spent the first half of my life enraged by the blight and injustice around me, and the next half spent figuring out what to do about it.
My goal is to represent the working people of the ward with vision and solidarity as Albany’s first independent officeholder. Holding an elected office unbossed and unattached from the usual networks of power is an important means of improving our shared conditions. It is harder, but it means victories are meaningful and last longer. I recognize that shared problems require shared solutions; that democratic governance on the city level is one of the best tools for providing equitable access to shared resources. This campaign and my future service as the best possible representative will be to build our shared political, social, and economic power. We are only safe and thriving together; together we are never on our own.
